meet the baker

Hi, I'm Nancy.

 

I grew up in Zambia and started baking when I was around 10. In my culture, you don't lazy around while adults are busy, you help..! And of course that's what I did. I started helping out in the kitchen and quickly found that I was pretty good at baking!

I was 17 when I made my first wedding cake. It was nerve-wracking to say the least! I couldn't get hold of cake pillars so I had to hold the cake tiers together with wine glasses. And if that wasn't scary enough, it was placed on a wobbly table!! I spent the whole wedding praying it didn't fall. Thankfully it didn't and the cake went down incredibly well with the bride and groom as well as the guests.

I find baking very therapeutic. I work in healthcare which can be very demanding and baking helps me to relax. I started Nancy Moomba Cakes as a way of channelling my creativity as well as sharing my love of sweet treats with the world.

I hope you enjoy my cakes as much as I enjoy baking them.
